With Haydn Marriner, Tourism Bay of Plenty
Tauranga’s creative and marketing community came together at the University of Waikato Tauranga Campus to help shape the region’s first-ever place brand. The session brought marketers, communicators and researchers into one room to share what they believed made Tauranga distinctive and full of potential.
Guests took part in guided group discussions, chatted with the team behind Our Tauranga Region, and explored new perception research about how the region is currently viewed. A short presentation set the scene, and the energy stayed high as attendees swapped ideas, perspectives, and plenty of lighthearted moments.
The goal of the evening was simple: to co-create a shared identity that could strengthen Tauranga’s economic, social and cultural future. By contributing their expertise, participants helped lay the groundwork for a brand that reflects the region’s vibrancy, diversity, and ambition.
With pre-session materials provided, everyone arrived ready to dive in, and the collective enthusiasm showed. The event marked an important step toward defining how Tauranga is experienced and celebrated both here at home and beyond.
