How AI imagery is shaking up traditional marketing

With Marketing Association and Steve Ballantyne

Thanks to everyone who joined MoPed and the Marketing Association for an inspiring session with Steve Ballantyne from Brand IQ. Steve delivered an engaging, thought provoking look at how AI generated imagery had already begun transforming the marketing landscape.

During the session, Steve walked us through real examples of how Brand IQ had used AI imagery across sectors such as travel, professional services, construction, and food technology. He showed how AI had helped solve creative challenges quickly and cost effectively, work that once took weeks could now be turned around in a fraction of the time.

A big theme of the session was the practical upside of AI imagery. Steve highlighted how teams had achieved major cost savings, launched campaigns faster, and created more distinctive and visually striking content. He also showed how AI had helped brands explore new aesthetic directions that would have been difficult or expensive to produce through traditional methods.

For context, Steve had long been recognised as a leading voice in AI image generation in New Zealand. His work had appeared on the cover of NZ Marketing Magazine and across both the Australian Marketing Institute and New Zealand Marketing Association websites. With hundreds of hours spent refining image prompting techniques, he brought deep expertise to the session.

Over his 25year career, Steve had partnered with over 200 companies across Australasia, giving attendees a grounded, real world look at the future of marketing visuals.
